As Hurricane Maria churns in in the Atlantic Ocean, Cathy Earl, UMCOR’s Director of Disaster Response and U.S. partner relations, gives an update in this video on how UMCOR is already responding to the devastation that faces the U.S. territories in the Caribbean, and what this new storm means for future efforts. 

The Rockford district is still collecting items for cleaning buckets through the month of September. Donated items may be dropped off at Christ UMC in Rockford which will be delivered to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, IL. The Midwest Mission Distribution Center encourages monetary donations or supplies bought through DollarDays as one of the best ways to donate since they are shipped directly to MMDC at the Center’s bulk prices. Monetary donations may be sent to: MMDC at PO Box 56 in Chatham, IL  62629.
Continued prayers also for Mexico following Tuesday’s magnitude 7.1 earthquake which has claimed more than 200 lives. This was the second earthquake to hit Mexico in as many weeks and rescue teams are still searching for survivors trapped in the rubble.
