Christmas Shopping and “Giving Tuesday.”   We’ve just finished with Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday, special days created by merchants, advertisers and professional fundraisers who are determined for you to part with your money.   If you are still looking for a gift to honor Jesus, we’d like you to consider some of these suggestion:  Contributions to our own local church are always appreciated.   Gifts to missions are always welcomed.   There are several worthy missions.  The Mission Team of Christ United Methodist Church met in the fall and chose these missions for the funds from our church mission team’s fundraisers: United Methodist Disaster Relief in the United States (hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, floods which affected our own country), TLS McHenry County Veterans (American veterans having a tough time), Turning Point (women and children who have confronted violence and are now experiencing a fresh start), Home of the Sparrow (transitional housing for women and children), and the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Food Pantry.   This coming Sunday would be a good time to select a way to honor Jesus.   Please make checks out to Christ United Methodist Church, and write the purpose or special fund in the memo line.
Thank you to all who’ve chosen to participate in the Giving Tree Program, bringing joy to some of the residents of Home of the Sparrow.  Remember that the Giving Tree gifts should be unwrapped, with the tag attached, and brought back to church by this coming Sunday, December 10th.
