Braxton Larocco, son of Bruce (Moose) and Beth Larocco was injured in a swimming pool accident in July which left him paralyzed from the chest down – he does have function in his arms.  When Braxton was paralyzed Bruce remained by his side, which included 21 days in an intensive care unit.  Bruce wanted to be next to Braxton when he woke up which eventually happened 15 days after the accident.  They didn’t know whether or not Braxton would live.  Bruce has been traveling to hospitals in Park Ridge, Des Plaines and Chicago to be with his son (having to travel and eat out in order to be with Braxton, necessitating spending money which the Larocco family did not have in order for Bruce to be with him).  Braxton also underwent inpatient rehab at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.  Although he came home Friday, he will still have to have rehab five days a week for three hours a day; however, they do not know whether or not he will ever walk again (for more details, please click here to read the complete article from the Northwest Herald)

So far Braxton has accumulated about $900,000 in medical bills, but he has insurance and out-of-pocket for medical, so far is only $2300.  Tami Carriveau is organizing a benefit for Braxton because the family has been involved in local baseball teams and spaghetti dinner fundraisers, among other things.  The fundraiser to help Braxton Larocco will be held at 6:00 pm this Saturday, November 8th at Nero’s Pizza and Pub, 300 Eastgate Court in Algonquin.  Admission is $20 and includes a buffet and live music.  The event will also include 50/50 raffles as well as raffles for gift baskets and gift cards.  Cash donations are being accepted at Home State Bank, 50 W. Acorn Lane in Lake in the Hills.
