This week’s weather reminded us that our toothbrush and toothpaste collection couldn’t be more timely.    Sometimes we think “missions is someplace over-there.”    Tornado warnings and watches are as much a part of an Illinois summer as trips for ice cream, and many of us have seen the destruction of a tornado.

Please bring an individually packed toothbrush and/or a tube of toothpaste weighing at least 2.5 ounces to church by Memorial Day Sunday (May 28th).    These will be packed with other needed items (combs, shampoo, soap, etc.) and be part of a “personal dignity kit.”   Then, when disaster strikes, a bus from the Midwest Mission Center (near Springfield, Illinois) will deliver these packages to those who experience floods, tornadoes or other natural disasters.   Last year they sent 30,278 kits; now they need to replenish their stock.
