Our Northern Illinois Bishop, Sally Dyck, has challenged churches in our conference to raise money for The United Methodist Global Aids Fund.
The Bishop’s goal for our conference for the United Methodist Global Aids Fund is $45,000-$50,000 from all churches in our conference.   Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will remain in this conference.   The Northern Illinois Conference stretches from the Wisconsin border to I-80.   According to the Aids Foundation of Chicago, over 43,000 people in Illinois live with HIV/AIDS.   The majority of those with HIV/AIDS live in the Northern Illinois Conference.

The Mission Team asks you to support lots of causes, and we don’t expect each of you to support each one.   We don’t want any of you to consider giving a “burden,” but we do want all of you to know that United Methodists do support those with AIDS.   If this is a cause that is important to you, or if you have a friend or family member you want to remember or honor by giving to this fund, we want to encourage you to do that.

If you are going to donate, please be sure that your check has “Bishop’s Appeal – AIDS” written in the memo-line.   If you wish to give, please do this by May 21st.
